Free: the plot of the last episode, the finale of the series

Pietro (Matteo Martari) leaves prison thanks to his father’s testimony: on the evening of Vanni Rosati’s murder, she was having dinner with him. There is a sort of rapprochement between the two thanks to Clara. The new grandfather can’t wait to meet his granddaughter. It still takes a little patience because the fifteen year old doesn’t yet know that Pietro is her father.

Libera (Lunetta Savino) and Pietro once again set out on the trail of the corrupt magistrate who allegedly covered up a sentence from 15 years earlier. The judge is convinced that he is involved Aldo Ferrero (Roberto Citran), President of the Criminal Section of the court and always his bitter enemy. Too bad he’s Elia’s grandfather, the boy Clara fell in love with.

In prison Pietro discovered that the deaths of Bianca and Vanni Rosati are linked to a certain Covacich, a drug trafficker Croatian man selling boats at the port. He probably saved himself from a trial by bribing some judges, and Bianca saw it in his face. Pietro and Libera meet Covacich. From that moment the criminal hires one of his henchmen, a drug dealer called “Skull”, to intimidate the two: first he hits Pietro’s father with the car, sending him to hospital. Then he drugs Clara slipping some amphetamine into his water bottle.

Who is the corrupt magistrate that Bianca recognized and who cost her her life?

Libera is worried. At this point she also involves her ex-husband Davide (Claudio Bigagli) in the investigation, now increasingly convinced that his daughter did not die of an overdose. They have to trace it back to the judge corrupted by Covacich. Libera also asks for help from Ettore (Gioele Dix) who is increasingly close to the magistrate. Finally, thanks to an intuition from Libera, they discover that Aldo Ferrero, Carlo Bosso and Furlan had participated in that trial.

Aldo confesses to Libera that he had never agreed with the Covacich ruling but that he knew nothing about the manipulation of the process. Same, Furlan. The two never acted against the law. Together with Hector, Libera manages to meet Bosso, but finds a man torn apart by Alzheimer’s who remembers nothing of that case and will never be able to be a reliable witness in a possible trial.

Libera discovers a bitter truth

There seems to be no more room to get to the truth, but Pietro manages to find it Skull and discover that he saw Covacich talking to a man who expressed himself with Latin phrases. Is it De Marco? Skull is the baton to hold tight now. There was in fact a third man inside the court: a man who covered Bosso and who was seen by Bianca that fateful evening at the Yacht Club. Covacich is found hanging at the port. Libera arrives at a bitter truth about who manipulated the trial and consequently about her daughter’s death.

Clara discovers that Pietro is her father

The most touching moment of the episode is when Clara discovers that Pietro is her father. It is the grandmother who tells her granddaughter a few days after closing the case on her daughter’s death. During a dinner at his and his sister Isabella’s house, in front of a laid table, together with family members, new and old friends.
