To further accelerate and improve the handling of additional damage suffered by affected benefit parents, the Ministry of Finance will start a pilot this month with a fully digital compensation route. With this digital route, parents can quickly and easily submit a request for additional compensation online. Parents will receive clarity about the amount of the damage during the application. During the pilot, 200 parents can use the digital route. The intention is that the route can also be opened to other parents with additional damage in January. At the same time as the pilot, the central registration portal for parents to register for additional compensation will also open in phases from December 10.

Digital application

With this route, the government hopes to help parents in particular who, for various reasons, do not want to (re)tell their story and, above all, want a quick settlement of their damage. With the digital route, parents can submit a request for additional damage via a specially designed and secure website. As with the SGH route, fixed damage amounts are used for certain events. After the application has been completed, the affected parent will receive a financial proposal for additional damages. Only if the parent agrees, a settlement agreement (VSO) will be concluded and the amount will be paid out.

Registration portal

Some of the affected parents have suffered damage after the Catshuis scheme and the Integrated Assessment that has not yet been compensated. With the digital route, there are four routes to compensate for this damage. They can contact the Actual Damage Committee and the Equal Worthy Reparation Foundation for this. In addition, parents can be referred to the VSO direction route and can now also use the Digital Route. A digital registration portal has been set up to provide parents with clear information about the additional damage routes and the various conditions. Via this central registration portal, parents can make an informed choice for one of the various additional damage routes.

Financial recovery progress

At UHT, 69,049 people have registered as possible victims. The first test has been completed for 99% of them. More than 39,396 parents have currently been identified as victims. From the moment of registration, parents are entitled to support from the municipality where they live. Parents who have been identified as victims will receive at least 30,000 euros. In addition, debts are tackled and public debts are waived. Almost all submitted debts and/or payment arrears have now been settled. This involves a total amount of 921 million euros. The integrated assessment has now been completed for 55,000 people. It is expected that all integrated assessments will be completed in the course of 2025. After the integrated assessment has been completed, parents can possibly register for one of the various additional damage routes.
