POssagno, 6 December. (askanews) – After seven years the nineteenth-century wing of the Gypsotheca Antonio Canova Museum in Possagnohometown of the neoclassical artist. The entire heritage of sculptures of that period returns to being exposedin a scenario that is unique in many ways. “It’s an important day,” he told ad askanews the director of the museum, Moira Mascotto. «A stage that marks the life of our museum institution. After important work of consolidation, seismic improvement and also after applying some bas-reliefs that had been missing from our installation for several years, we can now enjoy the gypsotheca in its entirety.”

Among the new features, in addition to the display of some plaster models of very famous sculptures, also a complete lighting reorganization and the completion of the digitalization process of the Canova architectural complex. «The message we want to give», added the director, «is that we put all our commitment, our love into preserving these treasures for them to come handed down at future generations».

Next to the nineteenth-century wing, the Possagno museum also presents the magnificent section designed by Carlo Scarpa, which combines the works of Canova with contemporary architecture. «Next year», concluded Moira Mascotto, «the Scarpa wing will receive attention, so there will be an intervention in that expansion, but then we are also working on what is the extraordinary programming for one show which will take place in June, with the Venetian architect as the protagonist.” And the Canova Museum continues to search dialogues through the eras and the cultural practices.
