MP Lotta Hamari’s outfit at Linna’s party has a touching story.
Fashion artist Anne-Mari Pahkala is not the first time: he implemented MP For Lotta Hamari (sd) The castle’s party costume also in 2023. However, this year’s costume tells a more touching story than before. It is a tribute to Kultanauha, which aims to raise awareness about childhood cancer.
Every year, around 150 children under the age of 15 get cancer. According to statistics, approximately one in six children with cancer dies.
The topic touches Hamar personally, because a child in his close circle has developed cancer unexpectedly and unexpectedly.
– When a child becomes seriously ill, it demands a lot from parents, grandparents and siblings, but above all from small patients or someone who got sick at a young age. As a young adult, the affected person may also have to reorganize their life dreams, at least temporarily, says Hamari.
Hamari once did his dissertation on exercise for children with cancer. The idea of collaborating with Kultanauha at Linna’s party arose when he joined the charity cycling team, which collects funds for the organizations behind Kultanauha, Aamu and Sylva.
– After my dissertation, I collaborated with Sylva on sports. I know how invaluable work the people behind Kultanauha do. That’s why I wanted to promote the visibility of the Golden Ribbon also through Linna’s party costume.
A comfortable, delicate outfit
To be relevant, fashion art doesn’t have to be iconic or radical. Pahkalanka’s creation does not read Kultanauha in capital letters or even have a form familiar to Kultanauha or Roosanauha. Ten meters of delicate silk have been used for the pale gold dress.
– I want to bring out difficult things through beauty. Characteristic of my handprints, the end result is delicate, harmonious and calm, says Pahkala.
– The costume tells about the fragility of life, beauty and love for children. In addition, the outfit with jewelry brings out skilled Finnish creative work and entrepreneurship, says Hamari.
As customers often do, Hamari also approached Pahkala with open arms and open arms, without prior requirements regarding the future outfit. Castle party costume design projects are usually quite effective. Pahkala designed Hamari’s outfit for Linna’s party in 2023 as well.
– This kind of project does not arise by itself, but requires, for example, several adjustments, in which the seamstress is also involved, says Hamari.
– I have also received advice and help from Anne-Mar for responsible clothing purchases in general. I strive to favor responsible consumption and domestic work, Hamari adds.
Stories through fashion art
Pahkala says he is an intuitive designer. Storytelling is comprehensive for Pahkala.
– My design always starts from atmosphere and material. This Linna’s party outfit has a difficult and sensitive, children’s theme in the background. I can’t see that the outfit should have been sparkling gold. The end result is rather philosophical, Pahkala analyzes and continues:
– I believe in depth in all art, because art does not happen by itself. I do things genuinely and with heart. The world of values is important to me both in fashion art, in unique suits and in functional fashion.
For example, Pahkala puts issues of justice and equality at the top of her values. Regarding the castle parties, he emphasizes the importance of etiquette for both women and men.
– I want to design outfits that appreciate the occasion. It’s all about design and quality. If the supposed female wants to wear a pantsuit, it can be done without breaking etiquette. Equality and human rights are important here as well. Things have moved forward at Linna’s party, but there is still room for growth.
In her creations, Pahkala strongly thinks about how to communicate with clothing. It is a means by which even guests at the Castle’s party can bring their values to the fore. The reception of the president is important for the invited guests and the spectators as well.
The fashion designer is pleased that many people want to celebrate Finland’s Independence Day dressed in Finnish design. By choosing a creation by domestic creators, you also buy work in Finland.
– It is a sign of appreciation for domestic creators and also gives opportunities to young, up-and-coming designers, says Pahkala.
Anne-Mari Pahkala has made numerous outfits for Linna’s parties over the years. Fairytale Mali
Pahkala, who graduated as a theater costume designer, first made an outfit for Linna’s party already 17 years ago. For years, he has focused on his own unique outfits ahead of the art of fashion. In 2022, he was named chief designer of the renewed Samuj.
– Fashion art is so different from commercial design, says Pahkala.
Now at Linna’s party, you can see seven unique costumes that come from Pahkala’s pen. At the busiest time in 2019, Pahkala designed 19 outfits for Independence Day. Back then, outfits were made all year round. Autumn is usually the busiest time for Finnish fashion designers.
