Smits emphasizes that dumpings are commonplace in the recreational area, although it does not always involve drug waste. “From garden waste to chemical waste,” the spokesperson describes the finds. In 2023, waste of up to two cubic meters will have been dumped sixty times, and waste between two and five cubic meters will have been dumped forty times.
It is not known how often drug waste was dumped in the park last year. “But every dump is one too many for the environment,” the spokesperson emphasizes. Moreover, the dumpings represent a significant cost item for the recreation board.
