Nick Woltemade’s working paper is one of five that will expire at Werder Bremen at the end of the season (for an overview). After the future managing director of sports, Clemens Fritz, confirmed last autumn that he was working on an extension with the green and white home team (background), the talks recently stalled. According to a report, two European clubs have registered their interest in the 1.98 meter tall center forward on the Weser.

This is reported by the “Picture“newspaper, according to which the Danish FC Midtjylland and Frankfurt conquerors Union St. Gilloise from Belgium would like to sign the 22-year-old for a free transfer in the summer. Both clubs are at the top of their national leagues and could also play internationally next season – attractive for Woltemade? When asked by the newspaper, his advisor did not comment on the speculation. Fritz recently stated that he had entered into an exchange with the players and emphasized: “We are still optimistic that we will continue with Nick.”

The offensive force has been used by coach Ole Werner in every game so far in the current calendar year, there are a total of 22 games in the 2023/24 season, Woltemade was in the starting line-up three times – but the right-footed player is still waiting for his first goal.

According to reports, contract discussions and a clarification of his future should take place soon. Over the past year, the attacker increased his market value from 800,000 euros to 2 million euros, especially the loan to SV Elversberg last season, during which the attacker contributed ten goals and nine assists in 31 third division games and was therefore instrumental in promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga took Woltemade a lot forward.

In Bremen’s offensive, the home-grown player is currently competing with the established national striker Marvin Ducksch, the newcomer Dawid Kownacki, who has fallen short of expectations, and the outgoing Rafael Borré – whether Fritz & Co. can show him a perspective in the course of squad planning for the coming season The coming weeks will likely show whether Woltemade will be content with the role of Joker at his training club in the long term or will decide to make a change.
