The snowboarder’s World Cup final was actually supposed to take place in Berchtesgaden. But nothing comes of it. But there is still a glimmer of hope.
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has canceled the snowboard World Cup finals in Berchtesgaden due to a lack of snow. The final races for the raceboarders should have taken place on March 16th and 17th.
Will Winterberg step in?
The German association Snowboard Germany and the organizing committee are now considering holding the final weekend on the same date in Winterberg. Two races are already planned there for the previous weekend (March 9th and 10th).
“We have checked all the options we currently have in Germany”said association director Stefan Knirsch, but “A lack of snow, not just in Berchtesgaden, presents us with major challenges. Nevertheless, we want to offer our athletes the platform of two home World Cups – and are therefore examining the possibility of a second Winterberg weekend.”
Hofmeister is about to win the “big ball”
The German snowboarder Ramona Hofmeister is on the verge of her fourth overall World Cup victory. She has already secured the “small ball” for the best snowboarder in the parallel giant slalom. It would be her fourth overall victory after the triumphs between 2020 and 2022, which would underline her exceptional position.
