NBA: Brooklyn defeats Grizzlies: Schröder shines for the Nets, Pistons angry

As of: February 27, 2024 7:29 a.m

Dennis Schröder is having an “efficient evening” with his new team, the Brooklyn Nets. And Pistons coach Williams sharply criticized the referee.

National team captain Dennis Schröder led the Brooklyn Nets to a sweeping victory in the NBA with his best performance to date since moving from the Toronto Raptors. In the 111:86 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, the basketball world champion was his team’s top scorer with 18 points; in his sixth appearance for the Nets, the point guard was in the starting five for the second time.

“Efficient evening for Dennis Schröder,” wrote Brookyln at X about the statistics of the German international, who recorded five assists and hit almost 60 percent of his throws from the field. Three of his four three-point attempts were successful.

First Nets win under Interim coach

Schröder scored 15 points in his debut for the new club in the professional basketball league and has now improved his personal best. The New York franchise won its first win under interim coach Kevin Ollie, the previous assistant coach had inherited Jacque Vaughn last week. Brookyln (22:35) is eleventh in the Eastern Conference.

Huge trouble around Referee decision

Local rivals New York Knicks (35:23) are doing much better, Isaiah Hartenstein’s team is still fourth in the East after a 113:111 win against league bottom team Detroit Pistons. Hartenstein had six points and eight rebounds.

New York won after winning the ball on the sideline seconds before the end, but the referees later admitted that there was a foul. “This is the worst decision of the season,” said Pistons coach Monty Williams, “Enough is enough. This is an abomination. This cannot happen in an NBA game. Period.”
