Addy van den Krommenacker, the couturier who, among other things, designed Chantal Janzen’s wedding dress, was caught drunk behind the wheel. “But I consider that private.”
Particularly reprehensible behavior: Addy van den Krommenacker, couturier for stars such as Chantal Janzen, was caught while driving drunk. He received a fine and a driving ban and had to take a mandatory CBR course to avoid losing his driver’s license. Cause? The past few years have been difficult, he says.
Big clock
The bankrupt Addy was forced to close its stores at the end of 2019. During that period the bottle apparently became his best friend and despite his increasing alcohol consumption he continued to drive. And that cost him very dearly one evening: the police caught him behind the wheel with far too much drink.
Addy is scared to death when the Weekend confronts him with this. “That’s private, I find it difficult to talk about that. I’d rather not make it public. Of course I drink, but I’m not a notorious drinker. I was once arrested in Germany.”
On drugs
He has now emerged stronger, says Addy. “I overcame all the problems I’ve had and I’m proud of that. You often hear about people with problems that they have gotten into drugs. Then I think: luckily I didn’t need that. I’ve honestly never done drugs in my life.”
It is not that Addy was on the edge of the abyss, he emphasizes. “Then you have bankruptcy, of course those are really not fun things. But I didn’t get through it all the way. I always believed in myself. I really mean that. But now, when I look back, I think: how was I able to handle all that?”
