1. FC Kaiserslautern, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Bayer Leverkusen and the winner of the catch-up game between 1. FC Saarbrücken and Gladbach will contest the semi-finals of the DFB Cup. But who has to compete against whom?
sport.de accompanies the draw for the semi-finals in the DFB Cup on this Saturday evening at this point from 11 p.mr in the live ticker!
+++ Fortuna coach Daniel Thioune as a guest +++
Daniel Thioune, coach of Fortuna Düsseldorf, is watching the action live this evening in the “sports studio” on site. He is also eagerly waiting to find out which team his team will have to play against.
“After tonight I know what I don’t want,” says Thioune, looking at the possible opponents in the semi-finals, after seeing the match report of Bayer Leverkusen vs. FC Bayern (3-0).
+++ Draw in queue +++
ZDF shows the trophy as it shines in the studio, but the balls have so far remained untouched in the draw pot.
+++ Losfee is sick +++
Unfortunately, young goalkeeper Konstantin Heide is ill and the U17 world champion is not available. Now ZDF cult reporter Bela Rethy will draw the balls.
+++ It’s about to start! +++
The balls start rolling from 11 p.m
+++ Who will win Bayern? +++
Bayer Leverkusen has just defeated FC Bayern 3-0 in the Bundesliga. The other three or currently four clubs will be trembling before this team’s lottery ball.
+++ Why is the draw so late? +++
The draw will take place as part of the “ZDF Sportstudio”. This doesn’t start until 11 p.m. on Saturday evening. That’s why the fans from Lautern, Düsseldorf, Leverkusen and Gladbach/Saarbrücken didn’t know for sure who they were up against until quite late.
+++ Who will act as lottery ticket for the semi-finals of the DFB Cup? +++
He impressed as a goalkeeper at the U17 World Cup in Indonesia at the end of last year, and he will be expected to show off his skills as a lottery draw at the draw: DFB young goalkeeper Konstantin Heide faces a very special task. All eyes will be on the U17 world champion.
+++ DFB Cup: What is the schedule for the further rounds? +++
The semi-final games in the DFB Cup are scheduled to take place on April 2nd and 3rd. The final will take place on May 25th – as usual in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
+++ When does Saarbrücken play against Gladbach? +++
After the last-minute cancellation due to heavy rain and the unplayable pitch, there is now a rescheduled date for the Saarbrücken game against Gladbach. In just over a month, on March 12th (8:30 p.m.), the two teams have to play again. The German Football Association recently announced this.
The game was canceled on Wednesday after heavy rain made the pitch soft. There is no functioning drainage in the Ludwigspark in Saarbrücken.
“It’s good that the DFB was able to quickly find a new date,” said Gladbach’s sports director Roland Virkus: “Now it will be important that the space in the Ludwigsparkstadion allows the game to be played regularly on this match date.”
Since many tickets have become unusable due to the wetness, Borussia will receive a new contingent of guests, the Bundesliga club announced. All previous ticket buyers will receive new tickets, the old ones will no longer be valid.
+++ Two second division teams in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup +++
FC Bayern? Long gone! BVB? Also! There are two second division teams in the semi-finals, 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Fortuna Düsseldorf. The Lauterers won 3-1 at Hertha BSC in the quarter-finals, F95 won on penalties at FC St. Pauli (3-4). If 1. FC Saarbrücken pulls off the sensation against Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach, a third division team will even take part in the semi-finals. Everyone should be trembling about Bundesliga high-flyers Bayer Leverkusen. The Werkself won 3-2 in a fast-paced game against VfB Stuttgart.
