Third division soccer team 1860 Munich has confirmed its rising form and celebrated an important victory in the relegation battle.
The Lions won the catch-up game against Rot-Weiss Essen on Tuesday evening 2-0 (1-0) and extended their lead over the relegation zone to five points.
Thanks to goals from Fynn Lakenmacher (33rd) and Julian Guttau (47th), the Munich team remains unbeaten under new coach Argirios Giannikis, with two wins and three draws in five games. Essen missed out on climbing to the relegation spot with a win. With 39 points, coach Christoph Dabrowski’s team is in fifth place in the table.
