Instagram has already deleted a number of racist and offensive messages.
In the midst of the political conflicts surrounding the right-wing populist party AfD and the shocking revelations of an investigative research by “Correctiv”, the music magazine “Hiphop.de” has dedicated an article to this topic. In this they have collected 24 rap lines that take a position against the AfD. The magazine published a few of these lines on their Instagram account. The reactions to this are frightening.
Rights and discriminatory comments
In the almost 300 comments (as of publication of the post) on the post, right-wing extremist comments sometimes take over. Many have already been deleted from Instagram due to racist or offensive content. In the lines by Chima Ede, Farid Bang and Dendemann, users write: “And yet there are millions who see the last hope for this country in the AfD” or are happy if “the Blues” come to power. One user complains: “I’m definitely not a racist, but the woke madness isn’t bearable either,” and an anonymous user criticizes the intention of the post with “just because all rappers are foreigners.”
Here is the Hiphop.de article:
There is no constructive criticism in the comments section. Instead, there are increasing allegations that the rappers quoted would do anything for money, or that the shift to the right that is taking place is designed by the media. There are still occasional praises and applause. “Listening to hip-hop and voting for the AfD don’t go together,” a fan concludes.
