The Handball Bundesliga (HBL) has presented a new name sponsor. The partnership comes into force on July 1st.
As the league announced on Wednesday, the company Daikin will be the new namesake and strategic partner. The contract runs until June 30, 2026 with an option for a further three years. Both parties did not provide any information about the financial volume.
“After a first, smaller step with Daikin in the current season, we are now taking a big step by granting the naming rights from which every club will benefit,” said HBL managing director Frank Bohmann.
Daikin based in Unterhaching
Daikin – a global manufacturer of heat pumps, ventilation and air conditioning systems with its German headquarters in Unterhaching – is already an official HBL partner for the current season. The lubricant company Liqui Moly is the league’s name sponsor until June 30th.
HBL President Uwe Schwenker, also Vice President of the German Handball Association (DHB), spoke of a “milestone”. The agreement shows “the great attractiveness of our Bundesliga at home and abroad. We welcome the fact that our namesake is also involved with the DHB, because the entire sport of handball benefits from this holistic approach.”
