Yellow card for Fabian Hürzeler (FC St. Pauli)
Fabian Hürzeler, who had already been suspended from the league game on Saturday, got too upset about a foul whistle from Sascha Stegemann and was warned for it. It doesn’t help that he has already calmed down and is apparently sitting peacefully in his seat in the meantime.

Marcel Hartel and Co. come out of the dressing room motivated and eager to play. They obviously have a lot planned for the second half.

Go on! Düsseldorf returns to the pitch unchanged in terms of personnel. Fabian Hürzeler, on the other hand, reacts with a double substitution to avert the impending defeat and the associated elimination. Elias Saad and Manolis Saliakas are new for the inconspicuous Lars Ritzka and Etienne Amenyido. This means that, apart from Sascha Burchert, the home team now has the starting eleven from the weekend on the field.

Half-time conclusion:
Fortuna Düsseldorf leads 1-0 at FC St. Pauli thanks to a penalty goal from Vermeij! Basically, the second division duel in the first section was more dominated by tactics. Both teams avoided the very high risk. As a result, there was always a bit of speed in the action, but the players on both sides rarely found their way to the goal. The hosts’ offensive efforts actually seemed more dangerous. However, the best defense in the 2nd Bundesliga was once inattentive after losing the ball in midfield and so Fortuna got a justified penalty, which Vermeij safely converted to give the F95 the lead. Despite the deficit, everything is still possible for the Kiezkickers. After all, just one goal would be enough for extra time. So it should remain exciting until the end. See you soon!

Mets plays the ball in midfield with a diagonal pass to Afolayan in the right penalty area. The Englishman then puts Hartel in the spotlight with a lob to the left of the penalty area and the FCSP captain quickly brings the ball in front of the goal. Kastenmeier comes out and punches the ball away.

Yannik Engelhardt received the ball directly in the face from close range and therefore needs to be treated. Things are likely to continue for the 22-year-old.

9:35 p.m
FC St. Pauli is currently establishing itself in the opponent’s half and is trying to force an equalizer before going into the locker room. However, the fact remains that Hamburg lacks penetration on the way to the goal.

9:33 p.m
Five minutes are added in the first round. Given the interruptions caused by Iyoha’s injury and substitution and the review of the video evidence before the penalty, this is absolutely justifiable.

9:29 p.m
The home team doesn’t seem to be bothered by the deficit and remains absolutely true to their previous style of play. A quick defiance reaction or something similar cannot be seen either.

9:28 p.m
Düsseldorf’s events are much more balanced today than they were on Saturday. Nevertheless, the lead came a little out of nowhere. Actually, it was the Fortunes’ first really promising attack.

Tooor for Fortuna Düsseldorf, 0:1 by Vincent Vermeij
The fouled person steps up and converts safely. With his right inner instep, Vermeij finishes tightly into the left corner. Burchert senses the side, but has no chance of getting a well-placed shot.
37′
9:23 p.m
There’s a penalty! The decision on the field was initially offside. However, the VAR intervenes and corrects the narrow wrong decision. This makes Burchert’s foul relevant and the penalty decision is absolutely fine.

Yellow card for Sascha Burchert (FC St. Pauli)
Burchert also sees a yellow card for the foul and thus the prevention of a safe goal.

Offside or penalty for Düsseldorf? Vincent Vermeij is sent perfectly through the middle deep by Yannik Engelhardt and then tries to go around Sascha Burchert on the left in the penalty area. The keeper doesn’t get to the ball and brings down the nine. This is a tricky scene. The referee team’s initial decision was offside.
34′
9:21 p.m
FC St. Pauli is currently becoming more active and is increasingly looking to go on the offensive. In the final third, however, there is still a lack of penetration.
32′
9:19 p.m
Florian Kastenmeier has lost his calm on the right in his penalty area. Although Afolayan runs at him at speed, the keeper relaxes and pulls the ball back with his sole and wants to resolve the situation playfully. However, the Englishman catches him and Kastenmeier falls. The referee rightly decides on a free kick. Nevertheless, what Kastenmeier is doing is really risky, despite his good technical skills.
29′
9:16 p.m
Hartel takes a free kick from the right half of the field high and far in front. But the Düsseldorfers are wide awake and can initially head the ball out of the box. Although the ball immediately returns to the penalty area, the ball ticks through to Kastenmeier, who finally defuses the situation.
27′
9:13 p.m
Johannes Eggestein takes heart from the second row. The ball is deflected on the way towards the right corner, but does not change its trajectory significantly. Florian Kastenmeier is there with a nice flying performance and grabs the ball safely.

9:12 p.m
The league first leg at Millerntor ended in a goalless draw on matchday two. Düsseldorf also has a better record away from home than at home. Fortuna really has every chance of progressing here, although St. Pauli of course wants to remain unbeaten.
22′
9:09 p.m
Marcel Hartel takes a corner from the right side high to the first post. Eric Smith gets a header there, but nods the ball well over the target.
19′
9:07 p.m
Düsseldorf lets St. Pauli lure them out from behind and just at the moment when the red and whites really want to go ahead, the home team accelerates the game again. It goes straight forward over a few stations. In the end, a Hartel cross from the right side was cleared before Eggestein was ready to shoot.
17′
9:04 p.m
Sascha Burchert intercepts an F95 free kick cross and immediately makes the game quick with a long drive. Etienne Amenyido is significantly disturbed on the way into the penalty area and separated from the ball. Afterwards, the guests playfully break away from the counter-pressing and calm the game down again.
15′
9:03 p.m
Tzolis quickly executes a throw-in on the left offensive side. As a result, the FCSP defense is not optimally formed for a short time. The ball lands in the backcourt to Tanaka, who finishes directly with his right instep. But his shot whizzes just past the bottom of the box.

Both teams are obviously fully aware of the importance of this game and are afraid to take risks in the opening quarter of an hour. Accordingly, there isn’t much to see in front of the gates.

Emmanuel Iyoha has pain in his hip after an apparently harmless-looking duel against Etienne Amenyido and needs treatment. That’s why the game is currently interrupted.

20:53
The guests tried very hard to control the game in the early stages and let the ball run through their own ranks. However, the Fortuna only gains a little space. Instead, the ball runs back and forth deep in their own half.

8:50 p.m
Philipp Treu plays the ball very well from the right half lane into the depths to Johannes Eggestein, who is lurking on the edge of the penalty area. However, the striker’s leather falls a bit when he takes the ball with him. Florian Kastenmeier pays attention, comes out and grabs the ball before it can become really dangerous.

8:47 p.m
Let’s go! St. Pauli started the atmospheric floodlight game from the first second and played in the turquoise cup jerseys. Düsseldorf is completely in white.
8:45 p.m
Before the cup evening really begins, there will be a minute’s silence in memory of the late Franz Beckenbauer.
20:41
The chance of winning the cup as an outsider has rarely been greater than this year. After all, a maximum of two participants from the Bundesliga are possible in the semi-finals and favorites such as FC Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig have already been eliminated. That’s why hopes for the sensation are naturally high. For St. Pauli even reaching the final would be a first. Düsseldorf, on the other hand, has already won the cup twice. However, on the way to Berlin we first have to do this evening.
20:26
Although Düsseldorf was clearly inferior in a direct comparison at the weekend, Daniel Thioune only made one personnel swap. Felix Klaus moves into the starting line-up for Jona Niemiec.
8:25 p.m
Fabian Hürzeler changed his starting eleven in three positions compared to Saturday’s success. Sascha Burchert enjoys trust in the cup and is still between the posts today. Lars Ritzka and Etienne Amenyido also start for Manolis Saliakas and Elias Saad.
8:09 p.m
The start of the second half of the season didn’t really go well for Düsseldorf. In Berlin it was only enough to draw 2-2 against Hertha and in the defeat against FCSP three days ago they were the significantly inferior team despite the narrow final score. That’s why the Fortunes go into the game as slight underdogs. However, that doesn’t have to be a bad thing, especially in the cup. In addition, the Rhinelanders have proven in the previous cup rounds that they can hold their own abroad. After all, they also had to compete as guests in the previous three rounds and prevail against Illertissen, Unterhaching and Magdeburg.
20:02
FC St. Pauli is playing an absolutely historic season! The Kiezkickers are undefeated leaders in the league and a step into the semi-finals of the cup is possible today. They have already proven in the two previous encounters that Hamburg will be in a good mood in the new year. There was a 2-0 win against Kaiserslautern and on Saturday there was a 2-1 win in a direct duel in Düsseldorf at the big dress rehearsal for today’s match. Accordingly, Marcel Hartel and Co. believe in progress and will do everything they can to even make it to Berlin possible.
Have a wonderful evening and welcome to the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup. In the first second division duel of the round of the last eight, FC St. Pauli welcomes Fortuna from Düsseldorf. Kick-off is at 8:45 p.m. in the Millerntor Stadium.
