As a long-time friend and former best man, David Wagner was not surprised that Jürgen Klopp announced his imminent end as coach of Liverpool FC on Friday. “When he told me, I was happy for him because I know how hard and difficult this decision was and is for him,” said the coach of English second division club Norwich City.

Klopp justified his decision to leave Premier League club Liverpool FC after this season by saying he was running out of energy. “It shows a lot of personality, character and courage to make this decision. Only he knows what is best for him,” said Wagner: “We all know how strenuous and challenging this business can be.”
The former Schalke 04 coach is not worried that his friend could fall into an emotional hole starting next summer. “He’s got a great time ahead of him, I’m sure.”
