Sven Mislintat’s career began at Borussia Dortmund. There he rose from scout to director of professional football, later ending up at Ajax Amsterdam via FC Arsenal and VfB Stuttgart, where he had to resign last year. Now the 51-year-old, also known as the “diamond eye” because of his ability to spot talent, has looked back on his time at BVB and in particular on one transfer: that of Jadon Sancho in August 2017.
“Jadon Sancho was the last transfer that Michael Zorc and I made together,” said Mislintat on “Sky” about the signing of the young Englishman, who moved from Manchester City to BVB at the end of August 2017 for more than 20 million euros.
“During the transfer, there were trustworthy discussions with him, his family and his agent right from the start. A great story, even if we had tough competition,” the former director of professional football and scout looked back and revealed: “FC Bayern tried to intervene relatively late on deadline day with maximum effort.”
Sancho, however, “didn’t think about it for a second and kept his commitment,” said a pleased Mislintat, who in turn moved on to Arsenal FC three months later and was active there as head of the scouting department until February 2019.

Mislintat’s conclusion on the return of Sancho, who has been wearing the BVB jersey again since mid-January: “You have to do Jadon.
