EHF adapts hygiene concept for EM: Shorter quarantine period

Vienna (dpa) – The European handball federation has reacted to the increasing corona cases among the EM participants and significantly shortened the mandatory quarantine of players who tested positive.

Affected players are therefore allowed to travel to the tournament from January 13th to 30th in Hungary and Slovakia just five days after an infection if a negative PCR test is found. The quarantine period was originally two weeks.

If a player becomes infected at the EM, he has to complete two PCR tests within two consecutive days after five days. If both tests are negative, the affected player is entitled to play again. In the run-up to the European Championship, there had recently been a few positive corona cases in a number of teams.
