US footwear and apparel retailer Allbirds Inc. has strengthened its leadership team.
On Wednesday, the company announced the appointment of Adrian Nyman to the newly created position of Chief Design Officer. Additionally, Kelly Olmstead was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer. Both took up their new positions in December, according to a statement.
According to the company, the new creative director Nyman has more than twenty years of experience in the footwear and clothing industry. Over the course of his career, Nyman spent, among other things, 13 years at the US sporting goods company Nike. Most recently, he was Chief Brand Officer of the electric vehicle manufacturer Arrival.
Kelly Olmstead is also an industry veteran. She worked for the German sportswear retailer Adidas for more than twenty years and joined Allbirds in 2023. Until her now announced promotion, she held the position of SVP of Brand & Marketing.
Allbirds CEO Joey Zwillinger has high hopes for the new managers: In a “time of transformation,” both of their skills and knowledge are of “tremendous value,” he explained in a statement. The company’s goal is to “revive the product range and the brand in 2024 and beyond,” emphasized Zwillinger.
