The takeover in Groenekan should help LCW Groningen further in electrification

Logistics Center Westpoort (LCW) takes over transport company Van de Hoef in Groenekan. With the acquisition, the company hopes to continue developing sustainable transport.

LCW was created from a merger of the Hoogkerker transport companies Liewes, Gebr. Vonck and Gebr. Gorter. LCW is taking major steps towards sustainable transport. For example, the company is building an energy hub with a charging plaza where several trucks are charged with green energy.

Fewer hours of driving

The acquisition of Van de Hoef gives the Groningen company an additional transhipment location in Central Netherlands. “This allows us to limit driving hours and further prepare for electrification.”

Van de Hoef is a family business that was founded in 1929. After the takeover, both companies grew into a company with 200 employees.

The ‘new’ company mainly sees opportunities in expanding the transport of unusual products with the cage monkey (a small forklift attached to the back of trucks).
