Winter signing Eric Dier has been officially introduced to FC Bayern Munich. At a press conference he gave the reasons for his move to Germany.
FC Bayern has signed defender Eric Dier, the second player from Tottenham Hotspurs after Harry Kane. The top striker also had a big influence on Dier’s decision to change, said the 29-year-old.
Buddy Kane is happy about Dier
“Harry is my friend, we talked a lot and I followed the games because of him,” said Dier at the PK in Munich. When he realized that there was an opportunity for him, “of course I pursued it for myself too.”
His friend’s transfer makes him “really happy,” said Kane after the Bundesliga game against TSG Hoffenheim (3-0) on Friday evening.
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund defined the access’s role “primarily as a central defender”. “He will be good for us with his experience and his way as a person,” Freund continued.
Dier was impressed by FC Bayern after the first few hours. “I feel the size of the club, it’s a very special feeling. I think our goals are the same. I come here to win titles. My goals are to help the team be as successful as possible.”
Cold but fantastic
First impressions? “It’s cold. It’s been fantastic since I arrived.”
The defensive man announced that he wanted to learn German quickly. “For me it is very important to learn the language as quickly as possible, also out of respect.”
Dier has signed a contract with FC Bayern until the end of the season. There is then the option of another year at Säbener Straße.
The Englishman had his first training session with the team on Saturday morning. On Sunday he will travel with the team to training camp.
