The 19-year-old goalkeeper Yannic Stein is moving from Bundesliga club Union Berlin to VfB Lübeck on loan until the end of the season. At the third division club, the youngster takes the position of Florian Kirschke, who had to end his career at the end of 2023 for health reasons.

VfB sports director Sebastian Harms: “In Yannic Stein we have gained a great talent. He will take on the challenger role in the goalkeeping team behind Philipp Klewin. The fact that he was already an integral part of a Bundesliga squad at his young age and should also return to Union documents the status that he has already earned. He has a strong physique, excellent spatial defense and very good 1:1 behavior. We have full confidence in him to make his contribution to us so that we can achieve our goals this season.”

The Berlin-born Stein moved up from the A-youth team to the Köpenick professional squad before the start of the season, but has not played there to date. “I’m really looking forward to being here at Lohmühle and now getting to know the team. Lübeck is a beautiful city and I think I will feel very comfortable here. I am very happy about the trust and would like to help the team with my qualities in order to achieve the goal of staying in the league together,” said the keeper.
