The police are investigating a shooting in the area of Bernard Beekmansstraat in Best, where residents were threatened several times shortly after New Year’s Eve and shots were fired into the air. No one was injured.
According to the police, the residents were visited twice by the men during the night. Around one o’clock a man came to the door of the house and threatened the resident. He also got hit. In addition, the windows of his front door were destroyed. The resident managed to close his front door, after which the man ran off and got in with a second man who was waiting in a car at the house.
Around half past three, two men came to the house and threatened the people present and also showed a firearm. Because the man who had previously been threatened was not present at the time, the pair eventually left again. Outside on the street, another shot was fired into the air with the firearm.
Altercation
The police say they are taking the matter ‘very seriously’. The reason for the shooting was an altercation that took place shortly after midnight. The man then spoke to a group of young people who were lighting fireworks right in front of his house. The young people also threw fireworks at the resident before they ran off. No one was injured in this either.
The police now want to know whether there are usable camera images. Technical research has also been carried out. The police are also looking for witnesses. Police are asking anyone who can provide more information about the previous altercation or subsequent incidents to contact them.
