The Austrian ski racer Marco Schwarz may be out for a longer period of time after his fall on the Bormio downhill run.
“It can be assumed that there is a knee injury. Hopefully it’s not that bad, let’s see how the investigation turns out,” said his head coach Marko Pfeifer.
Schwarz had fallen on the infamous Stelvio and crashed into the safety net. The 28-year-old was then transported away by a helicopter and taken to Innsbruck.
Schwarz lost his lead in the overall World Cup to the Swiss Marco Odermatt, who came second in Bormio. The victory surprisingly went to the Frenchman Cyprien Sarrazin.
On Friday there is a Super-G on one of the most demanding slopes on the racing calendar.
