Otto Group: New CEO at Bonprix

The clothing supplier Bonprix, which is part of the Hamburg trading group, is getting a new CEO.

Torben Hansen will take over the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from April 1, the Otto Group announced on Monday. He is also taking over the sales department from his predecessor Richard Gottwald, who is retiring at the end of May.

Hansen previously worked for the food delivery service Bringmeister. There he worked as managing director of Bringmeister GmbH, Bringmeister Fulfillment GmbH and Bringmeister Logistik GmbH and initiated a change to make the company independent of its previous owner Edeka, according to the statement. Before that, he was Vice President Recommerce at the Berlin online retailer Zalando between 2014 and 2022. During this time, he established online fashion resales on the platform and promoted activities in twelve countries. He also worked for the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Saarbrücken and the management and strategy consultancy McKinsey & Company.

“His professional career is impressive and characterized by outstanding achievements, entrepreneurial drive and strategic skills in various industries, not least in the fashion segment,” said Marcus Ackermann, CEO of Multichannel Distance Selling at the Otto Group, about Hansen’s appointment. “Torben Hansen has exactly the skills and expertise needed to lead Bonprix into a sustainably successful future.”

Gottwald, who first worked as a junior controller for the Otto Group in 1989, has held the role of Bonprix CEO since 2019, after having been a member of the management board since 2016.

Managing Director of E-Commerce, Sales Germany, Brand and Advertising is leaving Bonprix

In addition to Gottwald, Markus Fuchshofen is also saying goodbye to Bonprix after almost 30 years with the company. The mail order company and the previous managing director for e-commerce, sales in Germany, brand and advertising are parting ways “on the best of mutual terms” at the end of January, according to the Otto Group.

Fuchshofen has also been part of the Bonprix management since 2016. He became part of the company in 1994 and from then on worked in various functions. Among other things, he drove forward the digital transformation of the brand.

In addition to Hansen, the Bonprix management now consists of Carolin Klar, Managing Director of Product and Sourcing, Kai Heck, Managing Director of Finance and Logistics and Matthias Wlaka, Managing Director of IT and Technology. Wlaka is the latest addition to Bonprix. He will not take on this position until January 1, 2024.
