Most Chileans voted in a referendum against a proposed new constitution that was seen as deeply conservative. The electoral authorities of Chile, South America, confirmed this after the results already emerged from the counts. With more than 90 percent of the votes counted, 55.7 percent of Chileans rejected the new text, while 44.3 percent voted in favor.
