Fans also protested against the German Football League’s decision to bring in investors at the second division games in Nuremberg and Berlin.
“We will not be part of your deal – fuck DFL!” was written on large banners in the Nuremberg stadium in front of the fan curves of the FCN supporters and the opposite block of Hamburger SV. At the start of the game, tennis balls flew out of the FCN block, which led to a short interruption in the game.
In the Hertha BSC game against VfL Osnabrück, the supporters of both clubs unveiled posters identical to those in Nuremberg. In addition, the fans in both stadiums stopped supporting their teams in the first twelve minutes in protest.
In the game between 1. FC Magdeburg and Fortuna Düsseldorf, the fans of both teams were loud from the start. The Magdeburg Ultras justified this as follows: “We will not take part in the boycott because our club voted in our favor and voted against it.” On a poster they demanded “DFL – have voting rights legally examined”.
At the general meeting on Monday, the German Football League (DFL) received a mandate from the professional clubs to begin concrete negotiations with a strategic marketing partner. This planned agreement is met with rejection by many club supporters.
