At FC Volendam it is about football again: “I don’t see that many pieces appearing on the internet anymore”

With a great match against Feyenoord (3-1 loss) still fresh in the memory, FC Volendam wants to go into the winter break with a good feeling. Against SC Heerenveen The New Orange adding three points for the first time since the end of October. Interim trainer Michael Dingsdag will most likely be in front of the group for the last time in Friesland, but that is not yet certain. “As we have coordinated it now, that is the plan.”

Because Dingsdag does not yet have a coaching diploma, he can only act as interim coach for a number of matches. The club is therefore looking for a trainer who can stay on at least until the end of the season. Some haste is required in this search, because the selection will leave for Belek in Turkey on January 2 for a training camp.

Things have now become a lot quieter at the club. After the resignation of chairman Jan Smit and the board and the resignation of Team Jonk, it seems to be about football again in the fishing village. “I don’t see that many pieces appearing on the internet anymore,” says Dingsdag. “It’s a bit quieter now.”

Continue the line

The player group also notices that football at the club is the most important thing this week. Damon Mirani draws hope from the performance in De Kuip against national champion Feyenoord, when Volendam only succumbed in injury time. “We want to continue that line.”

At FC Volendam there is a feeling that they want to go into the winter break with a good feeling. The team is currently bottom of the league and could use another success. “If you get three points and put in a good performance, you will go into the winter break with a better feeling,” says Mirani.

Against Feyenoord, Dingsdag chose to be ultra-defensive. He kept the Rotterdam team at a draw until the 93rd minute, but Volendam ultimately succumbed to the pressure. “We are no longer going to park the bus like we did against Feyenoord,” Dingsdag gives something away about the tactics.

Dingsdag does not yet have Benaissa Benamar available in the match, who dropped out against Feyenoord with a head injury. Calvin Twigt was recently injured and therefore a question mark. Robert Mühren had some problems with his new soles, but is likely to be there against Heerenveen.

Next weekend is the last round of matches in the Premier League before the winter break and FC Volendam will take the bus to Heerenveen. The kick-off in the Abe Lenstra Stadium is at 9 p.m. It is the last chance for Volendam to get out of last place before the winter break starts.
