British Prime Minister: It is clear that Putin will fail in Ukraine

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson thinks it is already clear that Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to fail in Ukraine. Johnson says the best solution would be if Putin orders his army to withdraw to Russia.

The prime minister is in Poland for consultations on the situation in Ukraine. During a press conference, he said it was unlikely that Putin could remain an interlocutor in any peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. “What everyone in the international community needs to realize is that the outcome of the negotiations is up to the Ukrainians. It’s about what they want, they decide the future of their country,” Johnson said.

The British Prime Minister says he is ready to keep pressure on Russia for a long time. “The sanctions are already working,” he notes. According to Johnson, it is important that Europe quickly stops using Russian oil and gas.

According to Johnson, many more refugees and a greater humanitarian crisis in Ukraine must be counted on. “The number of refugees could reach millions.” The United Kingdom is allocating 220 million pounds (263 million euros) for humanitarian aid. The family reunification rules will also be expanded, allowing about 200,000 Ukrainians to join family in the United Kingdom.
