To mark the tenth anniversary of Childish Gambino’s second album BECAUSE THE INTERNET, mysterious posts have been made private Instagram account published, which is presumably attributed to the musician. Childish Cambino, whose real name is Donald Glover, is associated with two different Instagram pages. On the one hand, his personal page and on the other hand, the one on which the cryptic posts have now appeared, but for which there is no official statement.
Unconventional revelations?
On Sunday, December 10, a private Instagram account with 25,700 followers and the name “childishdgambino” started an impromptu Instagram live stream. It lasted just 30 seconds and could be identified as a mixture of different bits of transmission. Although no footage was seen, rumors regarding the audio track followed. A sonically disturbing sequence began with the question “Can you hear me?”, followed by a dark soundscape and an increasingly distorted voice. Cheers could be heard in the background. A recording of the live stream is now circulating on social media and causes a stir.
Insights into unreleased track
After the live stream, the account reposted the same audio – but this time combined with a video showing futuristic outline drawings of columns and a fireplace. Fans understood these images as a possible reference to Childish Gambino’s “Deep Web” tour in 2014. Due to the fact that BECAUSE THE INTERNET was also released on December 10, 2013, speculation arose that Glover might announce news related to the record could.
A short time later, the Instagram account also shared a snippet of “So Profound,” a previously unofficially released track from the BECAUSE THE INTERNET sessions. The accompanying image shows Glover wearing a signature trapper hat that he wore at the time of the record’s release, further fueling speculation among fans.
