Liverpool FC with team manager Jürgen Klopp has taken the lead in the English Premier League with a win at Crystal Palace – also thanks to Aston Villa.
The “Reds” scored 2-1 (0-0) at Crystal Palace. Harvey Elliott (90+2) scored the late winning goal for the Anfield team, who took the lead in the table.
Ayew sent off with a yellow-red card
Former Mainz player Jean-Philippe Mateta (57th, penalty kick) converted a self-imposed penalty to give Palace the lead. Liverpool star striker Mohamed Salah (76th) equalized, the hosts Jordan Ayew had previously lost with a yellow-red card (75th). Liverpool immediately used their majority to equalize.
Aston Villa wins top game
Liverpool FC Aston Villa provided support in terms of leading the league table. The club from Birmingham won 1-0 (1-0) against Arsenal FC on Saturday evening. The “Gunners” with national player Kai Havertz in the starting line-up lost the top position to Klopp’s team. The Scot John McGinn (7th) scored 1-0 for Villa following an assist from ex-Leverkusen player Leon Bailey. Third place in the table had already brought treble winners Manchester City to their knees with a 1-0 win during the week. The supposed equalizer by Havertz (90th + 1) did not count because of a handball.
Home defeat for Manchester United
Record champions Manchester United lost 0-3 (0-1) at home to AFC Bournemouth. It will probably be uncomfortable for team manager Erik ten Hag.
