Even if FC Bayern does not always shine in sport in 2021/22, the tenth championship in a row can probably no longer be taken from Munich. At the Säbener you can continue to focus on planning for the future. Surprisingly, however, the whereabouts of an absolute top performer is now being questioned.
Serge Gnabry could fall by the wayside when FC Bayern set the course. At least that’s what Bayern expert Florian Plettenberg suspects from “sky“.
“Personally, I think it could be difficult with Gnabry, even though everyone wants to keep him. But it’s been going on for months now and there’s no consensus on salary expectations. It’s reminiscent of Niklas Süle’s poker.” , Plettenberg assesses the contract poker for the German international.
The contract of the 26-year-old winger ends in the summer of 2023, but in order not to get into trouble, FC Bayern should be interested in extending it with Gnabry before the start of the new season. Especially since the free transfer of David Alaba in the summer of 2021 and Niklas Süle after the current season should have sharpened the antennas of the Munich bosses.
Plettenberg’s confidence is clouded by the fact that, despite the allegedly good conditions, there is still no execution to report.
FC Bayern: Gnabry does not want to gamble, but …
“According to our information, Gnabry is not gambled on leaving or leaving as a free transfer player next year. He would actually like to stay,” said the “Sky” reporter, who, however, restricts: “But I don’t have the very best at the moment Feeling. It’s a different situation with Müller and Neuer.”
Bayern veteran Thomas Müller and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer as well as striker Robert Lewandowski (all of whom also have contracts until 2023) are also planning to extend their cooperation. With Corentin Tolisso (contract until 2022) you have to act even faster if you want to keep the record purchase.
According to Plettenberg, this is also the problem: “Müller, Neuer, Lewandowski, Gnabry – possibly Tolisso. That is a total package of 200, 250 million euros that FC Bayern has to invest in order to extend these players.” An enormous sum that should not be invested lightly, especially as a result of the financial losses caused by the corona pandemic.
The fact that Gnabry would be allowed to go seems a daring thesis. On the other hand, the native of Stuttgart should bring in a hefty transfer fee and thus significantly increase FC Bayern’s room for manoeuvre.
