2nd league: Holstein Kiel passes HSV – Fortuna Düsseldorf 5-0 at FCN

Fürth wins at BTSV

Holstein Kiel continued the upward trend in the 2nd Bundesliga and climbed into a direct promotion spot with their third win in a row. The North Germans won 3-2 (2-0) against the disappointing SV Wehen Wiesbaden on Saturday. Thanks to a converted penalty kick by Steven Skrzybski (19th) and the third goal of the season by Fiete Arp (37th), Kiel were clearly in the lead at the break. In front of 10,754 spectators, Finn Porath (59th) increased the score in the second half. Things got exciting again in the final phase when Ivan Prtajin (81./90+3) shortened the score for SV Wehen with a double strike.

With the win, Holstein moved past Hamburger SV (28) into second place in the table with 29 points and is now the first pursuer of FC St. Pauli (31). The two Hamburg clubs drew 2-2 on Friday evening. The newly promoted Wehen Wiesbaden are still in the middle of the table despite their second away defeat.

The Kiel team dominated the game from the start. The guests from Hesse achieved next to nothing and were overwhelmed in defense. After the 0:2, coach Markus Kauczinski’s patience was at an end. Before the break he made a double substitution. His team’s game didn’t get any better. Even after the break, the Kiel team dominated and could have extended their lead. They only let up in the final phase and made things exciting again.

Fortuna Düsseldorf effective: clear away win at 1. FC Nürnberg

After a strange injury interruption, Fortuna Düsseldorf won the snow spectacle at 1. FC Nürnberg. An extra-large break due to a calf injury from referee Richard Hempel completely threw the Franks off course in the home game and brought a crashing end to their series of four wins without conceding a goal in the 2nd Bundesliga against the Rhinelanders. Coach Daniel Thioune’s Fortuna showed their next impressive performance a week after the 5:3 against FC Schalke 04 with a 5:0 (3:0) win and established themselves in the top group.

After the unexpected interruption, the people of Düsseldorf were ice cold. With a hat-trick, the Dutchman Vincent Vermeij (39th minute, 45th+3, 56th/hand penalty), the omnipresent Ao Tanaka (41st) and shortly before the end Jona Niemiec (84th) gave Thioune’s team their fourth away win of the season . The frighteningly harmless Nuremberg team, on the other hand, experienced their next crushing defeat a week after their 4-1 defeat at Karlsruher SC. At the beginning, Cristian Fiel’s team defended solidly. But after referee Hempel injured his left calf, the Franks completely lost access. In the 26th minute, the referee sent both teams and their support staff into the dressing rooms in frosty conditions, and in the 38th minute the fourth official, Assad Nouhoum from SC Oberweikertshofen, whistled to restart the game.

Whether in the air or on the ground: Fortuna Düsseldorf then acted mercilessly effectively. In the 43rd minute, the crossbar even prevented a fourth goal before the break when Isak Johannesson shot. Fiel responded with three substitutions, but this didn’t provide any impetus to the lifeless “Club” game.

Eintracht Braunschweig is defeated by SpVgg Greuther Fürth

SpVgg Greuther Fürth has continued its winning streak in the 2nd league and increased Eintracht Braunschweig’s relegation problems. The Franconians won 1-0 (1-0) at Lower Saxony and celebrated their fifth win in a row. They also remained without conceding a goal for the fifth time in a row. Julian Green scored the only goal of the game in the 31st minute with a penalty kick.

However, the Fürth lead was controversial: Eintracht defender Ermin Bicakcic is said to have fouled Armindo Sieb. The Braunschweig bench with coach Daniel Scherning at the helm protested violently. Referee Daniel Schlager (Hügelsheim) showed the yellow card twice.

After the break, the Lower Saxony team increased the pace but did not seriously threaten the goal of guest keeper Jonas Urbig. The most dangerous was a shot from Maurice Multhaup in stoppage time (90+5). The Franconians hardly did anything offensively and routinely maintained their narrow lead over time. Fürth remains in fifth place in the table, but with 27 points is only one point behind HSV in the relegation place. Braunschweig, on the other hand, remains in 17th place with eight points.
