Fürth wins at BTSV
Holstein Kiel continued the upward trend in the 2nd Bundesliga and climbed into a direct promotion spot with their third win in a row. The North Germans won 3-2 (2-0) against the disappointing SV Wehen Wiesbaden on Saturday. Thanks to a converted penalty kick by Steven Skrzybski (19th) and the third goal of the season by Fiete Arp (37th), Kiel were clearly in the lead at the break. In front of 10,754 spectators, Finn Porath (59th) increased the score in the second half. Things got exciting again in the final phase when Ivan Prtajin (81./90+3) shortened the score for SV Wehen with a double strike.
With the win, Holstein moved past Hamburger SV (28) into second place in the table with 29 points and is now the first pursuer of FC St. Pauli (31). The two Hamburg clubs drew 2-2 on Friday evening. SpVgg Greuther Fürth has continued its winning streak in the 2nd league and increased Eintracht Braunschweig’s relegation problems. The Franconians won 1-0 (1-0) at Lower Saxony and celebrated their fifth win in a row. They also remained without conceding a goal for the fifth time in a row. Julian Green scored the only goal of the game in the 31st minute with a penalty kick.
