Jan Böhmermann told “ZDF Magazin Royale” that he would like to host the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest with his show. His application was: “It doesn’t matter when, we’ll do it, we’re ready.” This was followed by a special music show with live performances by Alli Neumann, Apsilon, Oliver Tree, Domiziana, Ski Aggu, Badmómzjay, Blumengarten and Kim Frank. In between, the presenter and satirist explains: “Why are we doing the show? Because we can!”
Now came the disappointing response from NDR. “Portal Media” reports that when asked, Norddeutscher Rundfunk made it clear that the show was currently being developed and that the responsible production company had been determined for a long time.
In May 2023, Böhmermann responded ironically to the Germans’ often poor ratings at the ESC with his song “Allemagne Zero Points”. In his opinion, the preliminary decision was already the problem. This ESC preliminary decision has been organized by NDR since 1996. But even after Böhmermann’s suggestion, his expertise will not be used.
