Several shots were fired in a pedestrian zone in the German city of Gummersbach this afternoon around 12.20 pm. Several bullet holes can be seen in the window of a bakery. The situation is now under control, meaning there is no further threat.

At least one police officer is said to have shot at a man who was possibly waving a knife during a threatening situation. Eyewitnesses told German media that they saw a man running in the center of the city. Several witnesses claim that the man had a knife in his pocket, but this has not yet been officially confirmed. Police officers tried to stop the man while he was waving an unknown object. Shortly afterwards, several shots were fired by the police.
