Liverpool FC coach Jürgen Klopp has found clear words regarding the scheduling of the top game at Manchester City. The creators of the fixture lists in the Premier League “have no feel for football,” said Klopp, “that’s simply not possible.” The former BVB coach dislikes the fact that the duel between league leaders City and second-placed Liverpool will take place on November 25th – immediately after the international match phase.
Both top teams have a number of national players busy who will have little time to prepare for the top game after their return to England. “How can you schedule a game like this for Saturday, 12.30 p.m.?” asked the 56-year-old Klopp with a biting undertone, tapping his cap with his index finger.
Perhaps the timing was chosen because that is when the most money is paid for the game in the world, suggested Klopp, who, among other things, pointed out the travel demands of the South American players. City and Liverpool professionals are all coming back on the same plane, “it’s really crazy”.
In terms of sport, things have been going well for Klopp’s team recently. The 3-0 win against in-form Brentford FC saw the Reds move up to second place in the Premier League table. After twelve match days, only champions Manchester City have a better record with a one point lead.
