The Dam is starting to fill up with hundreds of people who come to express their support for Ukraine. The Eastern European country was attacked by Russia in the night from Wednesday to Thursday. There are support actions all over the world.
The action was organized by various organizations that have worked together to draw attention to the situation in the country. The protesters have protest signs with texts and often carry the Ukrainian flag and colours.
The organization has asked whether the demonstrators would like to bring many loving expressions, such as peace doves and hearts. There will be a two-minute silence at around 3.30pm.
Expressions of solidarity
Throughout the city are expressions of solidarity for Ukraine. The Ukrainian flag was placed on the roof of the Stopera and the A’DAM Tower was painted in the blue-yellow colors of the country. The Ukrainian flag also hangs on the ‘peace’ statue on Radioweg in Watergraafsmeer. Earlier there were already two spontaneous demonstrations on Dam Square.
