The Musikexpress playlist for issue 10/23

New every month: our new big Musikexpress playlist for streaming!

For each issue there is a newly curated playlist with the song recommendations from the ME editorial team. Here, while you’re reading, you can listen to the music we tell you about in the magazine.

For readers who don’t want to do without our exclusive magazine CD, it will continue to be available ME subscription (which can be canceled at any time).

This time on the October playlist there is music from:

Blush Always

The Leipzig singer-songwriter updates the sound of the great female fronted bands of the 90s for the present. “Coming Of Age” is a euphoric indie rock anthem about growing up.

K. Flay

On her new album, the US musician expands her alt-rap rock with plenty of bass, synthesizers and volume. This helps her cope with the hearing loss in one ear. “Spaghetti” is the secret hit of the record.

Sirens of Lesbos

The Swiss band moves elegantly and super-smoothly between neo-soul, disco and wordbeat. The guest appearance of Bootsy Collins, who looks at humanity from his radio spaceship, fits in perfectly

Fortuna Ehrenfeld

The Cologne band has found its sound and place in the German indie pop landscape: smart songs about art, everyday life, escalation and melancholy that never take themselves too seriously, but always have attitude.

Slow Pulp

No one sings about “Do do do do doubt” as calmly as Emily Massey. On her second album she and her Chicago band show that indie rock can go forward and still be introspective and delicate.

Mitski

As usual, Mistki masterfully transforms worries, addictions and contradictions into songs that shine from within. This time it sounds more like Americana than 80s disco, but as heartbreaking as ever.
