In the first game after the international break, it wasn’t enough for Werder to get their third win of the season – the Champions League participants were too strong.
The floodlights shone and 1,567 fans gathered in the 11th place stadium on Monday evening – the setting was actually perfect for a great evening for Werder’s footballers.
And the Bremen team put in a decent performance in the first game after the international break, but the happy ending didn’t work out. Their opponents from Eintracht Frankfurt simply played better and deservedly won 1-0.
Frankfurt’s Anyomi makes it 1-0
Anniversary for Lina Hausicke (right): It was the 100th Bundesliga game for Werder’s captain.
According to the Bundesliga table, it actually looked as if coach Thomas Horsch’s team could do something against the Hessians: Werder in seventh, the Frankfurt team with the same points and only eighth due to the worse goal difference.
But it quickly became clear that Eintracht’s weak start to the season was probably just a blip; in Bremen, the potential of the Champions League participants flashed again and again. In the 26th minute, national player Nicole Anyomi gave Frankfurt a 1-0 lead with a remarkable chip over Werder keeper Livia Peng.
Frankfurt dominates the game
And this goal gave Eintracht the right push. They began to dominate this game at the end of the 6th matchday and had numerous chances. However, since the Frankfurt team did not use any more, the game remained open. But Werder had a very difficult time offensively that evening.
Werder’s captain Lina Hausicke, who played her 100th Bundesliga game, was also unable to crown her anniversary with a goal and give Bremen at least a point. In the end, Frankfurt had the better chance of extending their lead. And Werder was a long way away from their third win of the season that evening.
