After five defeats at the start, Syntainics MBC celebrated its first victory of the season in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
The bottom team prevailed against BG Göttingen on Saturday evening (November 4th, 2023) with 97:89 (45:46). So far, the MBC was the only team in the German upper house that remained winless.
The club from Weißenfels had only previously experienced success in the BBL Cup, where the MBC is in the quarter-finals after two wins.
Strong Gibson is not enough for Göttingen
The hosts’ best thrower was Martin Breunig with 21 points. For Göttingen, which suffered its next bitter league defeat five days after the bitter blow against Alba Berlin (77:114), 35 points from the outstanding playmaker Umoja Gibson were not enough.
With just one win this season, the Europe Cup participants are still stuck in the bottom half of the table.
Oldenburg wins in Crailsheim
Hakro Merlins Crailsheim are now bottom of the table after beating EWE Baskets Oldenburg 63:99 (34:40). After their fifth league win in a row, Oldenburg moved into first place, at least for one night.
In particular, the American Dewayne Russell ensured a successful evening for the guests with 26 points.
Chemnitz keeps winning
The Niners Chemnitz are looking forward to an even more impressive run of success; their 70:68 (32:39) at the Würzburg Baskets was their ninth win in a row across all competitions.
The Niners are temporarily Oldenburg’s first pursuer, only the worse difference prevented Chemnitz from jumping to the top.
