Darmstadt and St. Pauli present in the promotion race

2nd league

Düsseldorf (dpa) – FC St. Pauli temporarily returned to the top of the table in the 2nd division on Saturday, but lost the lead again in the evening.

SV Darmstadt 98 won 1-0 (0-0) at SG Dynamo Dresden with a goal by Mathias Honsak in added time and pushed Hamburg out of first place due to the better goal difference. St. Pauli had meanwhile taken over this with a 3-1 (2-1) win at bottom FC Ingolstadt and celebrated a successful dress rehearsal for the DFB Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday at 1. FC Union Berlin.

Darmstadt and St. Pauli also set an example in the fight for promotion – one day before the top game of Werder Bremen, second in the table against the third Hamburger SV (Sunday, 1.30 p.m. / Sky). FC Schalke 04, on the other hand, missed the leap into the promotion zone again on Saturday.

Schalke without Gazprom lettering

Schalke, who, as announced, ran out without the lettering of their controversial Russian sponsor Gazprom on their jerseys, did not get more than a 1-1 (1-1) draw at Karlsruher SC. After the 2-0 (1-0) win at Hansa Rostock on Saturday, 1. FC Nürnberg was already two points behind Schalke in sixth place.

In the table basement, the relegation candidates once again experienced a bitter matchday. Rostock can drop back to the relegation place on Sunday, while bottom Ingolstadt is getting closer and closer to returning to the 3rd division after another defeat at home.

A 3-1 lead shortly before the end of the game was not enough for FC Erzgebirge Aue, which was second to last in the table, to win at SC Paderborn on Friday evening. Two days after the change of coach from team boss Marc Hensel to Pavel Dotchev, the violets got a point at 3:3, but missed the longed-for sense of achievement.
