FC Bayern: Hoeneß promises Tuchel winter transfers

FC Bayern’s low squad density has often led to problems this season. Uli Hoeneß has now announced winter transfers. Coach Thomas Tuchel would be happy to hear that, because the next bottleneck is looming against Dortmund.

On Monday, FC Bayern attended a special performance by Circus Roncalli for children from foster families, social institutions or with refugee experience, to which the people of Munich had invited. But before the team, coach and officials could enjoy the performance, the squad situation was discussed again.

Honorary President Uli Hoeneß spoke on the sidelines of the meeting about possible new signings in the winter. After all, coach Thomas Tuchel’s ensemble has been moving from performance to performance for weeks – from one personnel shortage to the next. That threatens again in the top game on Saturday at Borussia Dortmund, because Joshua Kimmich was after his emergency stop against Darmstadt suspended for two games by the sports court of the German Football Association (DFB). The midfielder is no longer in the FCB ring for the time being.

Hoeneß gives Tuchel hope: “Our coach gets everything from us”

After the transfer circus in the summer, in which the record champions were unable to sign a “holding six”, i.e. a defensive midfielder – much to the annoyance of coach Tuchel – the people of Munich are no longer averse to winter transfers.

In the past, the Munich tamer did not spare his criticism of what he considered to be a too thin squad and promptly received a reprimand from Honorary President Hoeneß. The squad is sufficiently staffed.

Accordingly, Hoeneß’ statements on the sidelines of the circus visit should sound like music to Tuchel’s ears. “If good arguments come to us, and he will probably have them, we are not fundamentally totally against it,” commented the 71-year-old about possible winter newcomers in an interview with BR24Sport and followed up: “Our coach gets everything from us necessary is.” But the purse will probably only be opened under one condition: “If we are still in all three competitions by then.”

Hoeneß praises Tuchel, Leverkusen and sees “small squad”

Hoeneß also spoke for the first time about a “small squad”, but at the same time praised the coach’s achievements: “That is the quality of a coach to be so high up with a small squad.” The record champions are currently behind leaders Leverkusen in the table. In general, the Werkself are the “most difficult opponents,” said Hoeneß. “They all do a great job together and the team plays great football,” praised the honorary president.

Now Borussia Dortmund is waiting in the top game on Saturday. Hoeneß would like coach Tuchel’s team to build on the performance of the win against Darmstadt. “It was really fun, that’s how I always imagine FC Bayern and I hope that we can put Dortmund under the right pressure on Saturday.”
