Erkki Antila has died

Antila died of a seizure in the deer forest.

Four-time biathlon World Cup medalist Erkki Antila has died at the age of 69. This was confirmed by his close circle.

Antila died on Saturday afternoon from a seizure while in the elk forest.

Antila won three World Championship silvers and one World Championship bronze in his career. At the home games in Lahti in 1981, he took silver in 10 kilometers and bronze in 20 kilometers. The other two silvers came from relay races.

In his career, the medalist also won eight Finnish championships between 1976 and 1980.

Also Antila’s son Timo Antila43, has represented Finland in biathlon at the World Cup and Olympic level.
