Last in Group G
Former Bundesliga professional Mladen Krstajic is no longer coach of the Bulgarian national team. The Bulgarian association announced this on Thursday. The reason for the separation from the 49-year-old Serb as national coach was the “unsatisfactory results” in the European Championship qualifiers. The Bulgarians are last in Group G with two points, have only drawn two games in six games and have no chance of taking part in next year’s European Championships in Germany. Krstajic’s successor is expected to be announced on November 1st.
Krstajic, who played more than 240 Bundesliga games for Werder Bremen and FC Schalke 04 between 2000 and 2009, has been in office since July 2022. His entire coaching staff also has to go. The former defender had previously looked after Maccabi Tel Aviv, Freiburg’s Europa League group opponent Backa Topola and the Serbian national team.
