On the evening of October 25th, several people were injured and killed at a killing spree in Lewiston, a city in the Androscoggin County of the US state of Maine. The perpetrator is still on the run. Stephen King comments on the incident – and speaks again against gun violence.
“The shooting occurred less than 50 miles from where I live. I went to high school in Lisbon,” the author reacts, visibly shocked, in an article on The army reservist, who is said to have psychological problems, shot at random in both a leisure center with bowling alleys and a barbecue restaurant.
“It’s the quick-fire killing machines, people,” continued King. “This is madness in the name of freedom. Stop looking for apologies for murders. “In another post, King announces in Versalia:” This does not happen in other countries. “
Back in 2013, the Portland-born writer published the essay “Guns,” in which he presented his thoughts on the issue of gun control and gun rights in the United States. “I think every citizen needs to think about the problem of an America overrun with guns. If this helps stimulate constructive debate, then I have done my job,” writes King in the official description of the text.
