“ORToday we are striking in solidarity with the Palestine and with Gaza. The world needs to make his voice heard and call for an immediate ceasefire, as well as obtaining justice and freedom for the Palestinians and all civilians involved.” The photo and post published by Greta Thunberg on October 20th The Israeli Ministry of Education did not like it and banned the Swedish activist from the country’s school programs and classrooms.
Offensive post, Greta Thunberg out of Israeli schools
“Hamas is a terrorist organization responsible for the murder of 1,400 innocent Israelis, including children, women and the elderly, and has kidnapped over 200 people in Gaza,” the ministry claims.
“There Thunberg’s stance disqualifies her from being an educational and moral modeland is no longer fit to serve as an inspiration and educator for Israeli students.”
Even environmentalists against climate activist
Even environmentalist leaders didn’t like the post published on so much so that he wrote a very harsh open letter to Greta to tell her that they were “deeply hurt by the tweets and posts regarding Gaza”. And that in this regard it would be important for him to “reconsider the atrocities committed by Hamas”.
This, not only because of the erroneous judgment, but because «since she is the best-known climate activist in the world today, from this influential position if she addresses a different topic in a superficial and contemptuous way, this inevitably weakens the validity of its climate-related positions.
Those with vested interests could exploit this to portray climate activists as unserious and lacking depth. Therefore, Greta is no longer a role model for us in the context of climate change. We have many other figures to inspire us.”
Greta Thunberg apologizes, but it’s no use
The activist, for his part, it must be said that he had already made his apologies. Immediately after the negative comments in the first version of the post which accused Thunberg of not mentioning the massacres carried out by Hamas, it also exploded the case of a plush toy in the shape of an octopus, visible in the photo of the post.
For some people, in fact, it is an anti-Semitic symbol. Greta however, he had explained that the stuffed animal “only helps autistic people express their emotions.” And he added that «there is no need to say – or so I thought – that I am also against the horrible attacks by Hamas. As I said, the world must raise its voice and demand an immediate ceasefire, justice and freedom for the Palestinians and all affected civilians.”
