Damion B. (17) from Friedrichshagen is said to have been drugged with opiates by other young people at a house party in Köpenick. He has been in a vegetative state since August 7th. The family is collecting donations for his recovery therapy.
When Kerstin B. (59) gets up in the morning, her first thought is of her “Beach Boy”. The 17-year-old’s mother wants nothing more than to have her beloved son back in life. When Damion left the house on August 6th, he asked her to prepare his work clothes for his shift on Monday. But he never came back home.
In the morning, the family tried to reach Damion, but the cell phone was off. Then the relatives finally found out that he was in the hospital. “I was shocked. Who expects that the child will never come home? I could always rely on him,” the mother tells BZ
The emergency doctor who was alerted found the young person in cardiac arrest. Paramedics had to resuscitate him for 16 minutes before taking him to hospital. Particularly explosive: The supposed friends with whom he spent the evening did not try to revive him – this is evident from the doctor’s report that the BZ has received. The police are investigating the case.
Kerstin B. is certain: “The friends mixed something into his drink.” The doctors found opiates and benzodiazepines in his body. In combination, the substances are considered extremely dangerous.
The so-called benzodiazepines “Benzos” have been a trendy drug among young people for several years. The drug is commonly used for anxiety disorders and is known for its calming effects. Opiates include psychoactive substances such as morphine and codeine.
In any case, the drug cocktail ended in a vegetative state for Damion.
Since he’s been in the hospital, his parents and siblings have been visiting him every day and can at least see that he’s making progress. “We notice that he notices us. He reacts to our speeches with a wink or a handshake,” says the mother. However, the current therapy is not enough, she emphasizes.
To wake up, Damion needs much more physical therapy, occupational therapy, swallowing and air therapy and speech therapy than the health insurance covers. That’s why the family overcollects GoFundMe donations (Keyword: Damion). So that her beloved son and brother can finally come back to life.
