A marathon that goes through the tunnels of the new Southern Ring Road. With this plan, the organization wanted to celebrate the completion of the mega project in Groningen. Is it a missed opportunity that this plan has fallen through?
The organization didn’t worry about it: that marathon would almost certainly happen. Until the municipality of Groningen came up with all kinds of objections. Officials question, among other things, the safety and affordability of such an event. And could others still enter the city?
