Everton FC have unveiled Kevin Thelwell as their new director of football. The 48-year-old has been head of sport at the New York Red Bulls since February 2020. Thelwell will report directly to the board and, among other things, act as strategic manager for all football departments of the club, the “Toffees” said.

“The owner, chairman and CEO have given me compelling reasons to join this great club and I am really looking forward to the opportunity to work with them all and move Everton forward. I can’t wait to get started,” said Thelwell, who succeeds Marcel Brands, who left the club in December. Before his engagement in New York, Thelwell worked for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
