At around 4.30 pm, the ANWB expected road users on the A1 to be on the road more than a hundred minutes longer. Two lanes were closed, only the left lane was open. The entire road was reopened around 5 p.m.
The driver of the overturned truck combination was driving a box truck with a trailer. He transported a swimming pool on that trailer. The bath is damaged. The same goes for the asphalt. The condition of the driver is unknown. It is also unclear whether he was the only occupant of the box truck.
According to the traffic information service of Rijkswaterstaat, around 5 p.m. there were a total of 65 traffic jams of a total of 286 kilometers. Extra crowds were expected this afternoon due to the start of spring break in the center and south of the country. As a result, the evening rush hour started earlier and you cannot avoid traffic jams around Arnhem, Nijmegen and Eindhoven, among others.
An accident has also happened on the A4 from Rotterdam to Amsterdam. At Leidschendam, two lanes are closed. The traffic jam has increased to 35 minutes. An accident with a truck on the A2 from Eindhoven to Maastricht also causes delays.
The ANWB also expects a lot of traffic tomorrow, especially on foreign roads towards the snow. Especially in the south of Germany and in France east of Lyon, traffic jams will arise to the ski areas. Many Dutch winter sports enthusiasts also have to deal with this delay.
Especially the last kilometers to the winter sports resorts take a lot of time. Last weekend, winter sports traffic jams resulted in a maximum of one and a half hours extra travel time. The advice is not to leave too early tomorrow, in order to drive after the crowds.
