Hilde (55)* has lived 15 meters from an industrial pigsty in Meerle for almost eighteen years. To be clear, she and her husband came first, the 2,000 pigs came later. Two years ago she couldn’t stand the stench anymore and she suffered a mental breakdown. Since then she has been receiving help from a psychologist. “It still happens to me that I get completely upset, which is not fun for me or for my guests.”
